Ingredients
For the Cookies:
2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup pure maple syrup (Grade A for best flavor)
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Brown Butter Icing:
¼ cup unsalted butter
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
2 tbsp maple syrup
1-2 tbsp milk
¼ tsp cinnamon (optional)
Garnish:
Flaky sea salt or chopped pecans

Instructions
1. Make the Cookie Dough:
Whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl.
In another bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add maple syrup, egg, and vanilla.
Gradually mix in dry ingredients. Chill dough for 30 minutes.
2. Bake:
Roll dough into 1½-inch balls. Place on parchment-lined sheets and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes.
3. Brown Butter Icing:
Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat, swirling until golden-brown (*3-4 minutes*).
Whisk with powdered sugar, maple syrup, and cinnamon. Thin with milk as needed.
4. Finish:
Drizzle warm icing over cooled cookies. Top with sea salt or pecans.
