Ingredients
1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
4–5 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
4 slices bacon, chopped (or 2 tbsp bacon grease)
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 cups chicken broth
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
Butter for serving (optional)

Instructions
Cook bacon in a pot until crisp, then remove and set aside, leaving the grease in the pot.
Add onion and garlic to the pot and sauté until softened.
Add green beans and potatoes, stirring to coat them in the bacon flavor.
Pour in the chicken broth and season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer 25–35 minutes, or until potatoes and beans are tender.
Stir in cooked bacon and a pat of butter before serving if desired.
Serve warm with cornbread.
