DIRECTIONS:
– Wash your apples, peel, and chop into call chunks.
– Add your cinnamon and stir till combined.
– Add you butter into a sauce pan and put on medium heat, until fully melted.
– Add 3 tbsp of flour into the butter mixture.
– Add brown sugar and white sugar to mixture. Stir well until mixed.
– Add a 1/4 cup of water. Let mixture sit over the heat for 2-3 mins.
– Add mixture to chopped apples. Mix well and sit aside.
– Starting the dough, add flour and salt.
– Then add butter. I recommend cutting them into chunks before adding into the mix. Using a pastry cutter to combine well.
– Then add Cold water. Gradually add until dough is formed. I used 3/4 cup. You want a rough dry dough.
– Separate into 2 even balls. Wrap and put in fridge for 4 hours.
– Using a pastry mat with a floured surface, roll out each dough ball. Until as wide as your pie dish.
– Roll 1st dough on pie dish. Pinch or roll extra edges to the top of the dish.
– Put apple filling in pie.
– Then with the other dough, cut into long rectangles for the lattice crust. Put the first rows on the pie and weave the second rows going the opposite direction. Fold in or cut extra dough near the outside of the pie dish.
– Add flare by using extra dough and cutting out leaves or your preference of cut outs. Place on top of the lattice where ever you like.
– Combined 1 egg and a little bit of water to make an egg wash. Brush the wash on top of your pies dough.
– Bake at 415 degrees for 15 mins, then bring down to 400 degrees and bake for 30-40 mins.
Take out of the oven, let cool! Enjoy!
