Ingredients
Preheat the oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the flour mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
While the cake is baking, prepare the glaze by melting the butter and water together in a small saucepan over medium heat until combined and warm.
When the cake is done, remove it from the oven and immediately poke holes all over the top with a skewer or fork.
Pour the warm glaze evenly over the hot cake, allowing it to soak in.
Let the cake cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before serving.
