Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1/3 cup breadcrumbs
1 large egg
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons oil or butter

For the onion gravy:
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions
In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
Form the mixture into 4 oval patties.

Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Brown the patties for 3–4 minutes per side until nicely seared. Remove and set aside.

In the same skillet, melt butter and add sliced onions.
Cook until onions are soft and golden, stirring often.
Sprinkle flour over the onions and stir to coat. Cook for 1 minute.
Slowly whisk in beef broth until smooth.
Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.

Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet.
Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10–15 minutes until the patties are cooked through and the gravy is thick and rich.

Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or with biscuits and green beans.
