Ingredients

For the Chocolate Cake:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 ¾ cups sugar

¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

1 ½ teaspoons baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

2 eggs

1 cup milk

½ cup vegetable oil

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup hot water or hot coffee

For the Coconut-Pecan Frosting:

1 cup evaporated milk

1 cup brown sugar

3 egg yolks

½ cup butter

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 ½ cups shredded sweetened coconut

1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

1️⃣ Make the Cake:

Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).

Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.

Mix dry ingredients in one bowl.

Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix well.

Stir in hot water/coffee (batter will be thin).

Bake 30–35 minutes. Let cool completely.

2️⃣ Make the Frosting:

In a saucepan, combine evaporated milk, brown sugar, egg yolks, and butter.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick (about 10–12 minutes).

Remove from heat, add vanilla, coconut, and pecans.

Let cool until spreadable.

Spread frosting between the layers and on top (traditionally not fully covering the sides).
