Cheesy Hamburger Helper (Homemade)
🛒 Ingredients:
1 lb (500g) ground beef
1 small onion, diced
2 cups uncooked pasta (small shapes like shells or bowties)
2 cups milk
1 cup water
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon butter or oil
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1 tablespoon tomato paste (optional)

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the onion in butter/oil until soft.
Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Stir in the pasta, milk, water (and tomato paste if using).
Bring to a light boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
Remove from heat, stir in shredded cheese, and mix until melted and creamy.
Serve warm, optionally with bread on the side
