Ingredients:

1 box chocolate cake mix (15.25 oz / 432 g), plus ingredients on package

1 1/2 cups shredded sweetened coconut (4.5 oz / 128 g)

1 cup granulated sugar (7 oz / 200 g)

1 cup whole milk (8 fl oz / 240 ml)

1 tsp vanilla extract (5 ml)

1 1/2 cups chocolate chips (9 oz / 255 g)

1 cup heavy cream (8 fl oz / 240 ml)

Directions:

Prepare chocolate cake mix as directed and pour into a 9×13 in (23×33 cm) pan.

Bake according to package instructions until set.

Heat sugar and milk in a saucepan over medium heat for 3–4 minutes until dissolved.

Stir in shredded coconut and vanilla, then spread mixture over hot cake.

Warm heavy cream in a small saucepan until steaming.

Pour hot cream over chocolate chips in a bowl and let sit 2 minutes.

Stir to form a smooth ganache.

Spread ganache evenly over the coconut layer.

Cool 45–60 minutes until set before slicing.

Tips:

For richer coconut filling, add an extra splash of milk if the mixture seems too thick.
