Ingredients:
▪2 cups granulated sugar
▪1 cup water
▪1/2 cup fresh orange juice (about 2-3 oranges)
▪2 tablespoons grated orange zest (from the same oranges)
▪1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
▪Orange food coloring (optional)
▪Powdered sugar (for coating)
Preparations :
☑Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper, and dust it with powdered sugar. This will prevent the candy from sticking.
In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, water, fresh orange juice, grated orange zest, and cream of tartar.
Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and stir until the sugar has dissolved.

☑Once the mixture starts boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and insert a candy thermometer.
☑Cook the mixture without stirring until it reaches the “hard crack” stage, which is around 300°F (150°C). This can take about 15-20 minutes.
If desired, add a few drops of orange food coloring to achieve the desired color.
Once the candy reaches the proper temperature, remove it from heat and let it sit for a minute or two to cool slightly.
Carefully pour the hot candy onto the prepared baking sheet.
☑Allow the candy to cool completely and harden.
Once cooled, break the Old-Fashioned Orange Candy into pieces and coat them with powdered sugar to prevent sticking.
Store the candy in an airtight container, and enjoy these sweet and tangy treats!
