Old Fashioned Salisbury Steak

– 1 lb ground beef
– 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
– 1/4 cup milk
– 1 small onion, chopped
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 egg
– 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
– 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 2 tbsp olive oil
– 2 cups beef broth
– 2 tbsp cornstarch
– 2 tbsp water

1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until well combined.
2. Shape the mixture into oval-shaped patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
4. In the same skillet, whisk together the beef broth and cornstarch until smooth. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
5. Return the patties to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Cover and simmer for an additional 10 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through.
6. Serve the Salisbury steak hot with the gravy poured over the top. Enjoy!
