Ingredients:
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for spice)
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 cup buttermilk
Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:
Prepare Shrimp:
Rinse the shrimp and pat them dry with a paper towel. Soak the shrimp in buttermilk for about 15 minutes.
Mix Coating:
In a bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure the spices are evenly distributed.
Coat Shrimp:
Remove each shrimp from the buttermilk and dredge it in the flour mixture. Lightly press to make sure the coating sticks well.
Heat Oil:
Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
Fry Shrimp:
Fry the shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until they are golden brown and crispy.
Remove the shrimp from the oil and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
