Soft Milk Bread (Milk Dinner Rolls)

Ingredients:

3 ½ cups (440g) all-purpose flour

1 cup (240ml) warm milk

2 ¼ tsp (7g) instant yeast

¼ cup (50g) sugar

1 tsp salt

1 egg

¼ cup (60g) soft butter

For brushing:

1 egg yolk + 1 tbsp milk

Instructions:

Activate yeast (if using active dry yeast):

Mix warm milk + sugar + yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.

(Skip this step if using instant yeast.)

Make the dough:

In a large bowl, mix flour + salt.

Add egg, milk mixture, and butter.

Knead 8–10 minutes until smooth and soft.

First rise:

Cover and let rise 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.

Shape:

Divide into equal balls (about 9–12 pieces).

Place in a greased baking pan.

Second rise:

Cover and let rise 30–45 minutes.

Brush & bake:

Brush with egg wash.

Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 18–22 minutes until golden brown.

Brush with a little melted butter after baking for extra softness
